Welcome to our Queen's Nursing Family! We're so glad to have you here

On behalf of the NSS, we are overjoyed to welcome you to the Queen's University Nursing program with open arms. You should be so proud of the achievements that have brought you here! With orientation week around the corner, we would like to introduce you to the Nursing Science Society (NSS), your student government society in the School of Nursing! We are here to advocate for students, provide support, and are the organizing team of social events, giveaways, newsletters and fundraisers.

We also advocate for our shared needs to governing bodies. This includes the School of Nursing faculty, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the overreaching student government: the Alma Mater Society! That being said - throughout your degree, we are here for YOU. You are always welcome to reach out to us any time to share how you are doing and how we can help (Check out our instagram & message us @queensnss)!

We wish you all the best throughout this journey & next chapter in life. Nursing school is filled with challenges, memories, friendships and learning. We are with you every step of the way - welcome to Queen's!

A Little About O-Week

What are Capes?

Capes are our amazing second-year orientation week leaders. During o-week, Capes will lead small groups of incoming students through each activity and will be their primary point of contact for resources, answering questions, and getting to know Queen’s.

What are NOC?
Nursing Orientation Committee (NOC) is a group of third-year nursing students who have worked hard all year to plan and organize Nursing Orientation Week. They run the behind-the-scenes of events, such as fundraising, setting up equipment, and ensuring the smooth flow of activities. NOC is more than happy to answer any questions you may have, and beyond excited to get to know all of the incoming nursing students!

A Message From Your Head Cape

Hello class of 2030!! We are so incredibly excited and ready for you to join our nursing family! My name is Jess, and I am your Head Cape for Nursing Orientation Week (O-week) 2026!

Within my role, I work alongside my incredible team on the Nursing Orientation Committee (NOC) to create a week full of lively, fun, and engaging events to welcome you to Queen’s, and more specifically, our nursing faculty. These events are planned to help you familiarize yourself with the campus and start feeling at home within our wonderful community. During O-week, you will be given different opportunities to connect with other incoming students, upper year students, and first-year students from other faculties. You will be supported by NOC, your second-year orientation leaders (Capes), and other faculty members who are so incredibly excited to help you through this transition and the rest of your journey at Queen’s.

NOC has been working hard all year to plan a week of events which will introduce you to Queen’s traditions, school resources, non-academic resources, and the incredible opportunities available at Queen’s! We hope that orientation will allow you to feel more confident within yourself as you begin your journey, and that you will feel supported by the entire nursing community.

Always remember you are welcome within our family just as you are!

Class of 2030, I canNOC wait to meet you all <3
