Welcome to our Queen's Nursing Family! We're so glad to have you here
On behalf of the NSS, we are overjoyed to welcome you to the Queen's University Nursing program with open arms. You should be so proud of the achievements that have brought you here! With orientation week around the corner, we would like to introduce you to the Nursing Science Society (NSS), your student government society in the School of Nursing! We are here to advocate for students, provide support, and are the organizing team of social events, giveaways, newsletters and fundraisers.
We also advocate for our shared needs to governing bodies. This includes the School of Nursing faculty, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the overreaching student government: the Alma Mater Society! That being said - throughout your degree, we are here for YOU. You are always welcome to reach out to us any time to share how you are doing and how we can help (Check out our instagram & message us @queensnss)!
We wish you all the best throughout this journey & next chapter in life. Nursing school is filled with challenges, memories, friendships and learning. We are with you every step of the way - welcome to Queen's!
A Little About O-Week
What are Capes?
Capes are our amazing second-year orientation week leaders. During o-week, Capes will lead small groups of incoming students through each activity and will be their primary point of contact for resources, answering questions, and getting to know Queen’s.

What are NOC?
Nursing Orientation Committee (NOC) is a group of third-year nursing students who have worked hard all year to plan and organize Nursing Orientation Week. They run the behind-the-scenes of events, such as fundraising, setting up equipment, and ensuring the smooth flow of activities. NOC is more than happy to answer any questions you may have, and beyond excited to get to know all of the incoming nursing students!

A Message From Your Head Cape
Welcome to Queen’s Nursing, Class of ‘29!! We are beyond excited for you to join our nursing family! My name is Kaylie and I am your Head Cape for Orientation Week (O-week) 2025!
In my role, I work alongside my amazing team on the Nursing Orientation Committee (NOC) to create a week full of fun events that will welcome you to Queen’s and help you feel at home on campus. During O-week, you will have the chance to connect with other incoming students, upper-year nursing students, and first-year students from other faculties. Along the way, you will be supported by your second-year leaders (we call them ‘Capes’), NOC, and other faculty members, who are here to help throughout your entire journey of nursing school.
NOC has worked hard all year to plan a week of events that will help you get to know the campus, school resources, your classes and professors, and introduce you to several fun traditions. We hope that orientation week will help you feel more confident in yourself as you begin your journey at Queen’s and that you walk away feeling supported by the nursing community.
Remember that you belong here exactly as you are!
I absolutely cannot wait to meet you all,
-Kaylie
